DUTCH NATIONAL BUSTED AT OR TAMBO WITH KHAT WORTH R240K
JOHANNESBURG – A Dutch citizen has been arrested at OR Tambo International Airport after police allegedly discovered more than 40kg of khat hidden inside luggage during an intelligence-driven operation.
According to SAPS, the suspect was stopped while preparing to board a flight headed to Frankfurt, Germany. The seized drugs are estimated to have a street value of around R240,000.
The suspect is expected to appear before the Kempton Park Magistrate’s Court on Monday, 25 May 2026, where he will face charges linked to drug trafficking.
Police say operations targeting international drug syndicates at South Africa’s ports of entry have been intensified, with over 50 suspected drug mules arrested at OR Tambo Airport in the past two years.
