Banking giant ABSA, in partnership with ZZ2, handed over 175 bicycles to Grade 12 learners at Mameriri Secondary School on Thursday, 21 May 2026, in a move aimed at supporting education and improving punctuality among students in the area.
The handover was attended by Tony Harding from Qhubeka, Francois Schwalb from ZZ2, members of the Sekgopo Traditional Authority led by MJ Sekgopo, local school principals, and School Governing Body representatives. Harding said the bicycles are meant to make it easier for learners to get to school on time every day.
The Sekgopo Traditional Authority thanked the donors for their continued investment in the community and urged learners to take care of the bicycles and use them to attend school regularly and punctually.
The initiative forms part of a broader drive by ZZ2 and Qhubeka to improve access to education and empower rural communities through mobility support.
