A 2-year-old toddler, Omphile Sethole, was allegedly snatched from her bed while her family was asleep in Ga-Mabuela village near Tinmyne in the early hours of Saturday, 2 May 2026.

According to police, an unknown suspect allegedly kidnapped the child, leaving her family and community in deep shock.
Police spokesperson Colonel Malesela Ledwaba said it is alleged that around 2am, the child’s 52-year-old grandmother woke up to use the bathroom and took Omphile with her before returning to bed. When she woke again at about 6am, the toddler was gone.
A window in the room was found wide open, raising fears that someone may have broken in and taken the child while everyone was asleep.

At the time of her disappearance, Omphile was wearing a pink jersey and black tights.
Family members and neighbours immediately began searching the area, but there was no sign of the child. Police have since launched a full-scale manhunt for both the missing toddler and the unknown suspect.
Limpopo Provincial Commissioner Lieutenant General Thembi Hadebe said:
“Crimes against children are taken very seriously. All available resources have been mobilised to find the child and bring her back home safely.”
