POLOKWANE, The Polokwane Magistrate’s Court has once again refused bail to Lekompo musician Shebeshxt, real name Lehlogonolo Katlego Chauke.

In delivering the ruling today, the court stated that the accused is alleged to have committed additional offences during the very same period in which the so called new facts were said to exist. Because of this, the court concluded that no exceptional circumstances were shown to justify releasing him on bail.

Shebeshxt had approached the court with a new legal team, led by attorney Michael Khumalo, and presented new facts in a fresh attempt to secure his release. The state, led by prosecutor Kgaogelo Lekoloane, successfully opposed the application.

The ruling does not close all doors for the musician. He still has the option to take the decision on appeal to a higher court.

If no appeal is pursued, his trial is expected to begin in mid May 2026. He will remain in custody until then.
